Ride the Calico River Rapids

On May 16, 2019 the citizens of Calico gathered to much fanfare, complete with a marching band and city officials to welcome guests to explore uncharted territory deep into the woods outside of town. Over the past few months, Knott’s popular Bigfoot Rapids white water raft ride underwent a major renovation with the addition of new features to the attraction including new animatronics, themed show scenes, a new story overlay and plenty of dynamic water effects. Garner Holt Productions, Inc., the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of animatronics for theme parks helped create the new theming. After working on updating the Timber Mountain Log Ride, and the Calico Mine Ride, Garner Holt has once again used their magic to not only transform the aging ridge, but tie in the story to a forgetten section of Ghost Town. Guests journey through the authentic setting with the help of legendary frontiersmen Potts and Coulter, who have plotted the path for settlers to explore. Along the way, rafters will encounter roaring rapids, indigenous wildlife, and peculiar homesteaders, while traversing through unexpected twists and turns, rushing waters and rapid currents as it navigates the unexplored river path. A surprise awaits towards the end of the ride!
