Park Decor: How Knott's Does It Best
Knott's Scary Farm 2017 is in full swing... and man, what a season it has been so far! A full review of this year's Scary Farm can be found at the link at the bottom of this article, but in addition to the event itself, one must acknowledge the work that goes into decorating the park and setting the tone not only for the evening, but daytime operations during the Halloween season. Decorating the park for Scary Farm must include the consideration that it look eerie at night, but not frighten children when the sun is out.
A day visit prior to heading into Scary Farm is a must. True Halloween fans need to walk the park, see the decorations and take photos with the props. No one decorates better... no one.
There is not an area of the park that isn't decked out. From the cheese cloth cobwebs in Ghost Town to the festive (yet completely appropriate) balloons in the Boardwalk. Try and find just one guest that doesn't snap a selfie in front of the gargoyles in Charleston Circle.
The windows of the Classic Candy store are set with vintage pieces and the Ghost Town Bakery has fake cakes, with just a touch of gore.
Camp Snoopy is filled new pieces to light up and fog out "The Hollow" at night, but they fit right in during the day.
If all of this were not enough, the landscape crew added corn stalks and pumpkins to the planters, to add just another touch of fall.
This decor welcomes guests all month and sets the perfect backdrop not only for Scary Farm, but the family friendly "Spooky Farm" that run weekends and Halloween day. At night, it all subtlety adds to the backdrop of scares and screams.
Plan a visit during the day and see the skeletons placed around Ghost Town (each year they move locations slightly). Check out the sideshow banners in The Boardwalk, snap a photo of the Dia de los Muertos statues in Fiesta Village, and see the changes in Camp Snoopy.
As an added bonus this year, a holiday overlay has been added to the Timber Mountain Log Ride. Again, a perfect balance has been set to create a festive mood during the day and a slightly scarier ride at night.
